Casa Arnel is located in the city of Oaxaca is only a 6 hour drive or 45 minutes flight from Mexico City. It is in the heart of tradicional neighborhood Jalatlaco, part of the Historic District of the city.

The neighborhood of Jalatlaco is located in the Northeast corner of the City´s Historic District and is defined geographically by the thoroughfare to the north, Niños Héroes de Chapultepec, by Calzada de la República to the south and west and by Eduardo Vasconcelos Boulevard to the east.

As has already been mentioned, Casa Arnel is located in the center of Jalatlaco, on the corner formed by Aldama street, running south-north and Hidalgo st. running east-west, the 17th century church of San Matias Jalatlaco is directly opposite Casa Arnel.

Casa Arnel feels privileged to be located in this tranquil neighborhood, that in spite of forming part ofthe city´s center, is one of the it´s most tranquil corners, still conserving its traditional flavor, Jalatlaco forms part of the Historic City that UNESCO recognizes as a World Heritage City since 1987.

A few miles before entering Oaxaca city the new super highway and the old federal highway unite, forming a single road. The entrance to the city is marked by the monumental statue of Don Benito Juárez where you will find the first set of traffic lights, continue on this boulevard for approximately 4 miles passing through 4 more sets of traffic lights. As you pass through this fourth set of lights keep in the left lane which splits off from the boulevard about 200 m. further on, this lane will take you up and over the hill known as "cerro del fortín" from which you will glimpse a beautiful view of Oaxaca city. As the road descends the hill it becomes "Niños Héroes de Chapultepec Avenue" as you continue along on Niños Héroes you will pass a gas station on your right, three blocks further on, is the First Class bus station. Make a right hand turn at "5 de mayo" street and drive for seven more blocks. Finally, at this corner turn left on "Hidalgo" street where, at the end of the block, you´ll find Casa Arnel. The Church of San Matias Jalatlaco is a principal point of reference, located at the corner of "5 de mayo" and "Aldama", just beyond is the Casa Arnel.

Arriving from Sta María del Tule, home of the millennia-old famous tree, the road turns into one of Oaxaca´s main boulevard. At about a distance of 10 miles you´ll come to the first set of traffic lights on your left you´ll see the large mural illustrating moments in the life of Don Benito Juárez. Continue straight at the fourth traffic light the boulevard becomes "Niños Héroes de Chapultepec Avenue", change into the left lane at the next intersection make a left hand turn, as a point of reference you´ll see the baseball stadium on your left and the Volkswagon dealership on your right. Turn left on to "Vasconcelos Boulevard" drive for two blocks, turning right on "Alianza" street, drive for two more blocks turning left on "5 de mayo" street drive for two more blocks. Finally, at this corner turn left on "Hidalgo" street where, at the end of the block, you´ll find Casa Arnel. The Church of San Matias Jalatlaco is a principal point of reference, located at the corner of "5 de mayo" and "Aldama", just beyond is the Casa Arnel.

Once you arrive at the town of San Bartolo Coyotepec, world famous for its black pottery, the road becomes one of Oaxaca city´s main boulevards. At 8 miles from the city, the boulevard joins with the airport road. Cotinue straight at the second set of traffic lights turn right on to "Universidad Avenue", on this road you past car agencies, commercial districts and finally on your right the Rectory of the University of Benito Juárez of Oaxaca. A few meters further on you´ll come to the intersection of "University Avenue" and "Periférico", a little further on, Periférico changes its name, becoming "Eduardo Vasconcelos Boulevard". Drive for two traffic lights more, two large blocks ahead turn left on to "Alianza" street, drive for two more blocks turning left on "5 de mayo" street drive for two more blocks. Finally, at this corner turn left on "Hidalgo" street where, at the end of the block, you´ll find Casa Arnel. The Church of San Matias Jalatlaco is a principal point of reference, located at the corner of "5 de mayo" and "Aldama", just beyond is the Casa Arnel.

We are only 20 minutes away by car. It is most convenient if you buy your ticket for a collective taxi before leaving the airport. Tell the dispatcher that your destination is Casa Arnel in Jalatlaco.

It is only a five minute walk. As you leave through the main doors, turn right and walk on “ 5 de Mayo street ” just six short blocks to arrive where it intersects with “ Hidalgo street ”, turn to the left and walk 1 block. You will find Casa Arnel in front of the church. If you are bringing a large quantity of luggage, take a taxi and tell the driver you are going to Casa Arnel.

We are 15 minutes away by car. Take a taxi as you leave the terminal and tell the driver to take you to Casa Arnel in Jalatlaco, we recommend you to register the number and the taxi company. Be very careful with your baggage here. Official carriers do not exist.
